Happy, Joyous and Free

Stepping tentatively
out on the ledge,
I screw up my courage
and go on.....

What do I want
for me,
for you,
for us?

Only to be
happy,
joyous,
and free

Free
of the opinions of others,
of my own self doubt,
to enjoy life
as it was meant to be,
unfettered

Joyous
in the wonder of the sunrise,
a cloud formation,
the way the water dances
as the wind plays across it

Happy
with me, myself,
what I am,
to be what I am,
to know what I am capable of

This I keep in mind
on that narrow ledge
as I walk and
carefully measure
my steps
