half state

this morning I woke

with you on my mind

and in that half state

felt my ear on

the phone

but was soon disappointed

it was only my pillow

soft and sweet

holding dreams of you

I looked at the clock

it was too early

back to sleep

I told myself

but I could not

you were on

my mind
